IAT Assessment Program

by SRI Selection Research International, Inc.

International Assignment Assessment Tool, Assignee Interviews, and Client Report

What is the IAT Program?

IAT Assessment Program was designed for organizations wanting a web-based international assignment self-assessment tool combined with the predictive power of formal telephone interviews. Clients receive written reports for candidate selection and assignment management.

IAT Applications include selection, customized cultural training, tailored pre-departure and destination support, assignment follow-up and repatriation counseling.

Two Objectives

1.Help assignees (employees, spouses / partners), from any country, identify their critical needs, find practical solutions, to support better relocation decisions.

2.Provide HR accurate reports about assignees' needs, personal and family conditions, with recommendations for selection, relocation support, and assignment management.

Four Steps to the IAT

1.IAT Employee and spouse complete separate online self-assessment tools.
The output of this global exercise is a confidential, readiness report that graphically highlights, for the employee and spouse, their personal and family issues for living and working abroad.

2.Background Information Forms are completed online by assignees.

3.Debriefing Interviews: SRI counselors / assessors conduct confidential telephone interviews with employees and spouses (90 minutes - 2 hours each person).
SRI's counselors / assessors clarify individual and family needs - areas likely to impact the assignment positively or negatively - and discuss resources, planning options and follow-up.

4.Client Written Report: SRI counselors / assessors generate written reports:

  • Identify factors predicting individual and family adjustment
  • Services required by the employee, spouse, children to build new lifestyles
  • Employee job suitability (strengths and gaps) and talent development
Assignment Management Recommendations:
  • Relocation and repatriation management (spouse and family)
  • Employee development plans, on-boarding, and coaching

Outcomes

The IAT Assessment Program insures a greater number of happier, successfully-adjusted expatriates while decreasing assignee discontent and early returns.
Accurate candidate assessment insures predictive selection and targeted assignment management - reducing expatriate problems, failed assignments, and negative surprises for both assignees and organizations.

IAT History

The IAT Assessment Program is based on four validated global self-assessment tools commissioned by DaimlerChrysler, Verizon, Dow Chemical, and AT&T. These SRI-designed international readiness tools have been distributed to tens of thousands of assignees over the past 17 years.
